Net-metering is a mechanism allowed by DISCOMs (TSSPDCL) to their customers (domestic or commercial users) who generate their own electricity using renewable energy (Eg: Solar Power by photovoltaic systems or Wind)and export their surplus energy back to the grid.
The term bi-directional meter can measure the flow of electricity in two directions. When the monthly electric bill is calculated, if the customer uses more electrical energy than is generated, the customer pays only for the net kilowatt-hours (kWh).
These guidelines are issued as per Regulation for connectivity with the Gridand sale of electricity from the Roof- top Solar Photovoltaic System, viz.,Telangana State Electricity Regulatory Commission (Net Metering Rooftop SolarPV Grid Interactive Systems) Regulation, 2016 [Regulation No.06 of 2016]which came into force from the date of its notification in the Telangana OfficialGazette i.e., 23.11.2016 and in terms of the Operational guidelines forimplementation of Phase – II of Grid Connected Rooftop (GCRT) SolarProgramme issued by MNRE, GoI on 20.08.2019.
